Class
'0' Armaflex (Fire Propagation, BS 476
part 6 1989) has an excellent fire safety
performance achieving BS476 part 6 1989
for low fire propagation, producing
minimal contribution to the overall
heat release, and BS476 part 7 1997
for zero surface spread of flame.
It has a closed cell structure which
has a built in vapour barrier with a
high resistance to water vapour transmission
enabling the insulation material to
maintain a higher level of energy conservation
efficiency.
FM
APPROVAL
Armacell has contracted with Factory
Mutual Research Corporation for the
ongoing testing and supervision of Class
'0' Armaflex Pipe and Sheet Insulations.
The contract provides specifiers and
owners with assurance that Class '0'
Armaflex consistently meets or exceeds
key physical properties.
FRMC
SUPERVISION TEST METHODS Under the supervision agreement,
thermal conductivity is tested according to
ASTM C 518, and water vapor transmission according
to ASTM E 96. The evaluation of fire performance
is accomplished through a series of end use
simulation tests. Class '0' Armaflex Pipe
Insulation is evaluated according to the FRMC
Pipe Chase Test while Class '0' Armaflex Sheet
Insulation is evaluated according to UBC Standard
17-5 Room Fire Test and the FMRC Flammability
Test.
